Bacon Jam Recipe

Bacon jam is a great addition to many dishes and appetizers. Add it to a grilled cheese, on top of a cheeseburger, even desserts. There are so many possibilities!

BACON JAM INGREDIENTS

1 pound bacon, cut into small pieces
1 large onion, diced
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup strong brewed coffee
1/4 cups bourbon
salt & pepper to taste


BACON JAM DIRECTIONS

Cook bacon until crisp. Remove all but 2 tablespoons of bacon fat from the pan.

Add onion to pan with bacon fat and cook on medium-low heat until tender (around 20 minutes).

Turn heat up to medium and add the rest of the ingredients including the bacon. Cook until the liquid is reduced and becomes caramelized. *This is a good time to taste test.

Put the bacon jam in a food processor and pulse until desired texture.
*If you prefer it left with bigger chunks it's great that way, too.

Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the fridge. It will keep for a week or more if it lasts that long!
